Prior to joining Edwards Performance Solutions\, he founded Evolved Cyber Solutions (ECS)   a company dedicated to supporting both large and small organizations in assessing security compliance and building cyber programs based on the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. Prior to ECS\, Brian was at G2 where he was responsible for both Federal/Civil Government and Commercial customer solution development and delivery. Brian was a primary author and led the contractor team supporting NIST in the development of the Cybersecurity Framework. Brian also supported Booz Allen Hamilton's Information Assurance Directorate (IAD) business at the National Security Agency (NSA) for 19 years\, as a Principal. Brian's industry knowledge and cybersecurity understanding make him a true asset to the Edwards' Leadership Team. Brian holds a Master of Science in Operations Research from the University of Maryland\, Baltimore County (UMBC) and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Purdue University. He is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).\n\nDavid Shafer: Dave Shafer counsels clients on a broad range of business and finance matters\, such as mergers and acquisitions\, purchase and sale of private businesses\, commercial financing\, private offerings of debt and equity securities\, venture capital and private equity transactions\, and general governance issues. Mr. Shafer advises clients on all phases of their business life cycle\, from formation and start-up through growth\, operation and sustainment to sale of the company often counseling clients on matters related to customer and vendor contracts\, securities and tax compliance\, and employee incentive offerings.\n\nWell versed in guiding clients through highly regulated industries\, including government contracting\, Mr. Shafer is adept at efficiently drafting acquisition agreements\, commercial loan agreements\, joint venture agreements\, mentor-prot g  agreements\, subcontract agreements\, and private investment documents.  Additionally\, Mr. Shafer assists clients solicit\, negotiate\, and obtain Small Business Administration (SBA) loans from SBA-approved lenders\, as well as help clients obtain financing through the SBA disaster assistance loan program.  His practice also extends to serving as general outside counsel to companies\, both for-profit and non-profit\, providing day-to-day counseling\, corporate governance\, and contracts advice.\n\nMr. Shafer leads the Firm's Cybersecurity & Data Privacy team\, where he and his colleagues counsel clients on matters related to cybersecurity and information privacy\, including compliance with federal and state statutes and regulations\, as well as industry standards and emerging regulatory requirements. Her work encompasses small business procurement matters\, particularly on issues related to eligibility\, participation in the federal small business set-aside programs\, and maintaining regulatory compliance.
