Join Grassroots for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first aid. ASIST teaches participants to recognize when someone may have thoughts of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will support their immediate safety. Although ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, participants don’t need any formal training to attend the workshop - anyone 18 or older can learn and use the ASIST model.
The ASIST workshop is for individuals who want to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. You don’t need any prior training to attend ASIST, just a willingness to make a difference.
This life-saving training will be held Feb. 22 & 23 from 9 am to 5 pm both days at Grassroots’ administrative offices at 6700 Freetown Road in Columbia. Lunch and materials will be provided. It is $25 for individuals who live or work in Howard County; $100 for others.
