Ready to make an impact? Be part of the 2026 #HoCoChamber Day of Service! Sign up now to volunteer, and the Chamber will assign you to one of the service projects below. Project assignments and details will be shared with registrants in advance.
1. Patapsco Heritage Greenway Cleanup
Location: Meeting at the Normandy Shopping Center
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Help improve the Patapsco River watershed by collecting litter in the wooded area behind Normandy Wine & Spirits and removing nearby invasive plants along Sucker Branch. All supplies will be provided.
Volunteers needed: Minimum 5, maximum 25
Age requirement: Must be 18+ or accompanied by an adult
Weather: Will proceed in light rain; canceled only if conditions are poor
2. Respite Retreats Service Project
Location: Respite Retreats Center — 6021 University Boulevard, Suite 175, Ellicott City, MD 21043
Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Support Respite Retreats by helping set up tables and chairs for an evening retreat, assembling gift bags and resource folders for guests affected by cancer, and assisting with light furniture assembly after their recent sewer line break required replacing several items. Your efforts help create an uplifting, restorative environment for individuals and families navigating cancer.
Volunteers needed: 4-7
Notes: Tasks include a mix of standing and seated activities
3. Community Action Council of Howard County
Location: Children’s Learning Center at HCC — 5600 Dragon Place, Columbia, MD 21044
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Build 5 raised planter boxes to be placed at CAC’s Early Childhood Learning Centers around Howard County. All planter materials and tools will be provided. After assembly, volunteers can help deliver the planters to CAC's Early Childhood Learning Centers, where they will be filled with plants and soil.
Volunteers needed: 3–5
Sponsorship Opportunity: Companies interested in donating to cover the cost of the planters can have their logo placed on a planter and receive a social media shout-out by CAC. For details, contact Chris Brandt at 410-313-6576.
